Safety tips
- Truck and bus drivers may not see a cyclist or pedestrian right beside or in front of the vehicle (blind spots). Don't stop on the right side of a turning truck at a junction.
- Heavy vehicles need longer to stop – don't cut in front of a truck or bus just before a junction or stop.
- On buses and trams hold on or sit down while moving: many public transport accidents are passengers falling.
- Overtaking a truck on the open road takes time and space – start only when the oncoming lane is clear far enough ahead.
